Friends. Flowers. Forever.
In 2019, I got to design the wedding invitations for two of my best friends. When Tabitha and Andrew approached me about the design, they wanted it to match the look and feel of their wedding venue—a beautiful spot tucked away in the woods with white flowers that would be blooming against the greenery of the trees that time of year.
I decided to do a take on a classic white invitation; dark green ink on white card stock, but with a custom floral illustration print filling the back. Simple on the front, ornate on the back. I started by designing a wedding seal that could be used across the multiple pieces. It contains a capital letter S for their last initial while also alluding to an infinity symbol. The couple’s first initials fill the open space inside the top and bottom of the S creating a T+A vertically. This seal would be the focal point of my illustration, with flowers emanating from the center celebrating Tabitha and Andrew at the center of the ceremony. The seal and illustration were added to a couple of other items as well including the groom’s suspenders, the reception table cards, and a framed record album used in place of a guest book.
